APRIL FOOL’S DISCLAIMER:
The story below is intended as humor only and is not intended to be accurate. All RB community participants in the story provided written permission for their names to appear.
Junior, Kyle Perfect, scored the highest score that any RB student has ever gotten on the ACT. With such a great score, ACT has decided to raise the score to a 38, just for him.
When asked of his accomplishment, Perfect said, “I couldn’t believe I got a 38. It seemed that all my hard work had really paid off.”
He studies every day by playing video games for two hours. “I owe it all to video games. They are the reason for my success,” he said.
Perfect plans to go to Clown College after graduating. “I finally have a good enough score to get in. It’s been my dream, and I can’t believe it’s coming true. All I had to do was get missing assignments, fail every one of my tests, and skip class seven or eight times a week,” he said.
He inspires the rest of the student body to raise their goals and know that they can also get a high score. “Never pay attention in class or study for anything. Stay up late on the day of the ACT and you’ll do great just like me,” Perfect said.
Perfect has brought honor to the school and has shown the rest of the community just how smart RB students are.
Despite missing shoe, Wiz eases on down the road

After working tirelessly since January, the Fine Arts Department raised the curtain for The Wiz to the audience on the weekend of March 18th, 19th, and 20th.
Tryouts took place after winter break, which was unusual compared to last year when they were practicing through the break. Students who made the cast included Andie Krug, as Dorothy, Taylor Dalton as Evilene, Andrew Brondos as the Tinman, Kyle Perfect as the Scarecrow, and Allison Hornug as Addaperle. Other notable characters were The Wiz who was played by Jacob Palka and the Lion played by Andrew Payton.
“It was very elongated. There were a lot of call backs throughout tryouts,” said senior Taylor Dalton. After that, the new cast began reading scripts, blocking action, and rehearsing the play.
For two months, the cast worked every day after school, sometimes thirteen hours a week to prepare for the show. Practice varied by each member depending on the scene they were practicing on a given day. Each member of the group became more excited as the show time neared.
The show, The Wiz, is an urbanized telling of the story The Wizard of Oz. It was the first time casting an all African American cast of a show, and the actual story is varied a little bit by its characters and the plot.
As the show began, the first thing that caught the eye was the costumes. All characters including the Scarecrow, Dorothy, and everyone had unique costumes that really brought out their personalities. Each of the main characters had their own songs in the play and Krug, as Dorothy, played a large role in every part of the play.
The play was a very long play and went over the two hour mark. There was so much that was put into the play that it did seem like it dragged on at some parts. Overall it was a very good play, and one of the better ones that was at RB.
“I thought it was fantastic, every performance was better than the last,” said Dalton.
A few mishaps did occur in a few scenes, such as when Perfect’s shoe on the scarecrow fell off and he was shoeless for a whole scene. However, the show went on and did well.
For some of the cast members, it was their final show in their high school career. “I was sad that it was over, there was a lot of hard work put into it, I miss all of them,” said Dalton.

Blood Drive is once again a success
On Wednesday May 26, RB yet again hosted a blood drive. A company, Life Source, was in the building collecting blood from students, teachers and anyone that wanted to donate. It took place in the Alumni Lounge from 8:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M.
This is not the first blood drive RB has had throughout the year. Wednesday’s blood drive was the last of three blood drives for the school year. RB has been getting more and more volunteers (16 and up) to donate their blood.
This time RB had a total donation of 121 pints of blood. For every pint donated, three lives were saved reaching a total of 363 lives. The total pints donated throughout the school year were 331 pints, which means a totally of 993 lives were saved.
Sophomore Kyle Perfect said, “It was my first time donating blood and I’m so happy I did it. It was a great experience and everything went smoothly. I will definitely be donating again next year.”
Another participant, sophomore Evan Waterloo said, “I’m really happy I donated, it really makes me feel like I’ve made a difference because I’ve saved three lives.”
Life source would like the reward those who donated by giving out gifts. Everyone that donated received plaid pajama pants, along with food and drinks.
