Are you looking for a restaurant that will give you a satisfying meal but doesn’t break the bank? Well you’re in luck because local restaurant Mi Casita is just the place for you. They offer a wide range of different Mexican dishes that are sure to satisfy your hunger. They are also very inexpensive so you’ll have no problem being able to try all sorts of different dishes. Mi Casita is located at 7 E Burlington in Riverside, formerly the home of Buddy Dogs.
“The food is excellent, and it’s very close to where I live, so I’m able to go there whenever I want to!” sophomore Stephany Lambruschini said, “I go there after school with my friends a lot; it’s a great place for us to hang out.”
I decided to eat there and experience the restaurant for myself. I was pleased at what I could order for less than ten dollars. I could have just about anything on the menu and more, so I wasn’t limited to anything!
The owner of the restaurant said that it wasn’t her first time owning a restaurant; she previously owned a restaurant named Burrito Grill. She had decided to come to Riverside because she loved the town and the location of the restaurant.
The only issue I had was I found it strange that they also sell Chicago styled hot dogs and French-fries with the other Mexican food. I feel that if they are going to be known as an authentic Mexican restaurant then the theme should be consistant. Other than that I found the restaurant quite charming.
It’s small and cozy and the workers are friendly, so I felt right at home. The inside is decorated with unique cultural accessories, which is another reason why it has such charm. It’s a great place to go and hang out with friends because it has a comfortable atmosphere and it won’t clean out your wallet.
The service there is very efficient, so you won’t have to wait long for your food. It’s also not very well known, so it’s not crowded or noisy and you can enjoy your food in peace.
When I decided to eat at the restaurant, I ordered a taco, horchata, and a slice of their tres leches cake. Mi Casita offers various different types of tacos but I ordered a vegetarian taco which is two hot tortillas filled with beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and avocado.
Horchata is a classic rice water drink that’s very sweet and refreshing. Tres leches cake is translated as “three milk” cake and it’s very moist and sweet.
I could taste the fresh ingredients in the food and was instantly hooked! I would recommend this place to everyone.
