It is official, Carmelo Anthony is now a New York Knick. After all of our patience and the rumors, Anthony was traded late night on Monday. This is a blockbuster deal not only because Anthony is in it, but also because it involved three teams. The third team was the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Nuggets will get three starters from the Knicks: Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and Danilo Gallinari. They also get Timofey Mozgov, a first round draft pick in 2014, a couple more second round picks and cash. The Knicks will get, of course, Anthony along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman.
Some may say the Knicks gave more than they should, giving up three starters and draft picks. The starting players for the Knicks now include Anthony and Billups, but we will have to wait and see how they play all together with Stoudemire and the other starters.
In their first game, the Knicks game the big three scored a combined 67 points. Anthony scored 27, Stoudemire scored 19 and Billups scored 21. The Knicks won 114 to 108 against the Milaukee Bucks. It wasn’t the biggest win ever, but as a start to the new team it wasn’t a bad game at all. Keep an eye on the Knicks because they are ready to play every game with their big three.
