Valentine’s Day is a time that is very divisive among the general public. It has many stereotypes, with love, chocolate, and people scrambling to buy gifts for their significant other.

Some love it and see it as a time of celebration and happiness. Others may have just gone through a hard break up, and as a result, don’t enjoy the holiday as much. No matter what we think, it comes and goes every year. Here is what RBHS students think about Valentine’s Day!
Most believe that Valentine’s Day is a great time of the year.

“I really like the atmosphere, all the candy and gifts people are giving to each other,” said RB Junior Andrew Reyes.
Reyes also believes that Valentine’s Day helps to liven up RB.

“[Valentine’s Day] is most enjoyable to me because of how happy it is. It cheers everyone up,” said Reyes.

To Reyes, there is more to Valentine’s Day than just spending time with a girlfriend or boyfriend.

“While having someone to spend the holiday with is nice, if you do not, just try to enjoy it as much as you can,” said Reyes.

RB Junior Marco Herrera also shared a similar sentiment about the holiday.

“I just like Valentine’s Day because the candy is awesome,” said Herrera.

Herrera, like Reyes, also believes that there is more to Valentine’s Day than just love.

“I just try to have fun when it is all going on, love does not matter too much,” said Herrera.

Other students are not as enthusiastic about the holiday. Junior Alexis Gurschke’s point of view is a bit more neutral compared to the rest, and not as in love with Valentine’s Day.

“I don’t really care about Valentine’s Day, it is kind of a boring time to me,” said Gurschke.

The cliché perks of Valentine’s Day do not appeal very much to Gurschke.

“While I don’t particularly dislike anything about the holiday, it is probably my least favorite,” said Gurschke.

It is clear that most students at RB like Valentine’s Day very much. Though some may not enjoy it as much as others, candy and gifts can cheer anyone up!

While having someone else to spend the holiday with is of course nice, the common theme throughout most of these responses is to try and have fun. Valentine’s Day may stereotypically be a holiday about love and Cupid, but just having fun and enjoying the atmosphere it creates is enough for most.
