AP French
AP French is a class for students that are passionate about the French language and culture. This AP class is very small, this year boasting only six students, so it is combined with French IV for the majority of the year with AP students branching off to do more difficult projects every few weeks. The workload is similar to that of French IV, but with added assignments here and there to prepare students for the AP exam. Students practice listening, speaking, and writing skills, improving their vocabulary and gaining confidence in their skills, all while exploring French and francophone culture. We are given the same assignments as the French IV students, but given slightly less time to complete them, and more is expected of us in terms of quality of speech or writing. This class is not for the faint of heart, but it is extremely rewarding to feel yourself improve over the course of the year. The class is not structured around the T’es branché? textbook, as most preceding French classes are, which leaves lots of room for impromptu lessons on anything students are curious about. AP French has solidified my love for the French language, and confirmed that I will minor in French in college. Through this class, I have the opportunity to travel to a number of French cities in the summer of 2022, and I feel prepared to navigate the country with the skills this class has provided me with.
