Girls Varsity Volleyball started its season with a home match on September 1, losing in two games to Nazareth Academy Road Runners. The score of the first game was 18-25, and the score of the second was 19-25.
The Bulldogs started off strong, going on a 7-0 run, led by Maggie Zeleny’s strong serves and Elena Duve’s five kills. The Road Runners came back quickly from this deficit, winning without much resistance in the first game. The second game in the best-of-three match was much more back and forth. The Bulldogs played hard, giving the Road Runners plenty to worry about.
The team’s leader in kills, Duve said, “I think we put ourselves in a good place to have a great season.”
The Bulldogs have since gone 1-1, losing to Illianna and beating Elmwood Park, bringing the team to a 1-2 record on the season.
