Girls cross country wraps up, looks to Regionals

Last Saturday on the 15th girls cross-country competed in conference. They placed second over all as a team as a team. They competed against many different schools including Illiana Christian, Fenton, and Elmwood Park. The competition was difficult but the girls fought back hard.

The season has now ended for all the girls although the varsity team will be continuing to compete in Regionals this Saturday on the 23rd. If the girls place high enough in Regionals then they will move on to State.

Last year the team didn’t make it to state, but a member of the team was lucky enough to qualify and compete in state. The team is hoping that this year the whole team will be able to qualify or state.

To be part of varsity cross-country to must work very hard during practices to earn a place on varsity. There are only seven spots open so some one else can easily take it. Varsity spots change every race because it all depends on who has the best times.

Sophomore Miranda Ryan said, “This year is a lot more competitive to earn a spot on the varsity team.”

The girls are looking forward to running in Regionals and are pushing themselves to bring there times down during practice.
