On this long, perilous, journey known as high school, many students set goals that may help them come out of this endeavor alive… Clarion has interviewed five freshman three times and is pleased to say that they are alive and making it through high school. The freshmen are: Michael Degand, Nick Kaczmarek, Nick Jepson, Adolfo Linares, and Renee Kunkel.
Nick Jepson
Q. Are your goals still going strong?
A. “Yes, they are fine.”
Q. Do you have any new goals?
A.” No, only to recover from my injury.” (Nick has a fractured leg.)
Q. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried new sports, clubs, etc.?
A. “I haven’t done that yet. I’m still trying to adjust to the RB atmosphere.”
Q. Do you still see yourself as the stereotype you said you were before?
A. “Yes, I think I do. I haven’t changed much.”
Q. Do you have any plans on what classes you will take next year that will help you later in your life?
A. “I have. I’m taking 2 languages, taking A.P. Euro, and advanced mathematics. I feel these will help me to get into politics or business.”
Q. Have you considered joining Clarion?
A. “No, I haven’t.”

A. “Yes, my goals are strong.”
Q. Do you have any new goals?
A. “Yes, to do better on projects.”
Q. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried new sports, clubs, etc.?
A. “Yes, sort of, to do more of my work.”
Q. Do you still see yourself as the stereotype you said you were before?
A. “Yes.”
Q. Do you have any plans on what classes you will take next year that will help you later in your life?
A. “I’m taking Physical Education and that will help me physically.”
Q. Have you considered joining Clarion?
A. “No.”
Adolfo Linares
Q. Are your goals still going strong?
A. “Yeah, they are.”
Q. Do you have any new goals?
A.”Right now, obviously school is before sports. But I still want to do good in sports.”
Q. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried new sports, clubs, etc.?
A. “Yeah, I’ve tried to do wrestling for football. I didn’t like it so I quit.”
Q. Do you still see yourself as the stereotype you said you were before?
A. “Yeah, I still focus on good grades and getting my work done on time.”
Q. Do you have any plans on what classes you will take next year that will help you later in your life?
A. “I’m trying new electives, engineering or something like that. I’m trying new electives to see what I’m interested in.”

A. “No.”
Nick Kaczmarek
Q. Are your goals still going strong?
A. “Yes they are.”
Q. Do you have any new goals?
A. “To make baseball.”
Q. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried new sports, clubs, etc.?
A. “Yes, football, I wasn’t expecting to play football and do well. I’m doing it next year.”
Q. Do you still see yourself as the stereotype you said you were before?
A. “Yes I do.”
Q. Do you have any plans on what classes you will take next year that will help you later in your life?
A. “I’m taking advanced courses to strengthen my knowledge.”

A. “No.”
Renee Kunkel
Q. Are your goals still going strong?
A. “Yes, they are strong.”
Q. Do you have any new goals?
A. “No, I’m just maintaining previous goals.”
Q. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried new sports, clubs, etc.?
A. “I’m going to run track this spring.”
Q. Do you still see yourself as the stereotype you said you were before?
A. “Yes, I see myself as a perfectionist.”
Q. Do you have any plans on what classes you will take next year that will help you later in your life?
A. “I’m taking AP Micro and Macro to help give me knowledge on the economy. I’m taking honors chemistry to possibly help me with a possible interest in pharmacy.”
Q. Have you considered joining Clarion?
A. “I’ve considered it.”
With goals in mind, these determined, hardworking freshman will work their way through this year.
