Team chemistry marks boys’ cross country
November 14, 2014
This year’s boys’ cross country team placed sixth in sectionals and sent senior Wayne Morrelly to state as an individual runner. The team at sectionals consisted of Morrelly, Matt Zamudio, Matteo Nunez, Jacob Warzola, Matt Sagan, Matt Armenta, and Andrew Lemesurier.
Morrelly finished sectionals with a state qualifying time of 15:53. At state, he placed 112th.
“The guys were just nice,” Coach Larry Forberg said. “A warm camaraderie and it was just a nice year. It renewed my love for coaching cross country.”
Last year’s team made it to state with a team average time of 17:40. This year’s team had an average less than 16:20.
“The growth that so many runners made this year as athletes was great. The way they pushed themselves and challenged themselves was great to see. This year’s team was very coachable,” Forberg said.
