The RB Girls Varsity Swimming team headed to Hinsdale South High School on September 9 for the annual Hornet Invite. Ten teams competed, with RB coming in fifth place overall. Several team records were broken during the meet.

In the Girls Medley Relay, Sarah Strubbe, Madeline Wenig, Sophie Bruno, and Claire Kawiecki set a new sophomore team record, along with taking first place in the event. Wenig later took second place in the 200m Individual Medley, breaking another sophomore team record in the process. Wenig then finished off her strong night by getting a first place finish in the 100m Breaststroke.

Other notable individual performances include Chloe Marello, who set a season best in the 200m Freestyle, and later a lifetime best in the 500m Freestyle event, and Veronica Cariveau who finish fourth in the 50m Freestyle.

The Varsity Medley Relay of Alyssa Schwarz, Tatum Bruno, Cariveau and Autumn Schwer (sixth place), JV 200m Freestyle Relay of Wenig, Sophie Bruno, Brooke Wubbolding and Morgan Daun (fourth), Varsity 200m Freestyle Relay of Kawiecki, Schwer, Schwarz, and Cariveau (fifth), JV 400m Freestyle Relay of Daun, Wubbolding, Sophie Bruno and Strubbe (fourth), and Varsity 400m Relay of Marello, Schwer, Tatum Bruno, and Sarah Pilewski (sixth) all contributed to the Bulldogs’ remarkable night.

The team has an invite at York High School on September 22.
