On October 7, the RB Varsity and JV Girls Tennis teams will head to Glenbard South High School for the Metro Suburban Conference meet. They will face Glenbard along with Wheaton Academy, Illiana Christian, ICCP, Aurora Central Catholic, and Fenton.

“Wheaton Academy will be our toughest competition,” said Head Coach Robert Hegner.

Hegner started coaching tennis at Morton High School. He played at Morton Junior College and Beloit College, as well as on community teams.

The Varsity team finished 4-2 in Conference, with an overall record of 15-6, and three first-place finishes at Saturday invites.

“I have been blessed once again with a good group,” said Hegner.

The Conference meet will have a specific set of rules to determine the place of each school.

“[In the meet] each position plays a tournament winning points for the team. [The] point total from the Conference meet added to the dual meet point total determines the Conference champ and the position for each team,” said Hegner.

One player to look out for may be senior Radka Pribyl Pierdinock, who was RB’s Athlete of the Week of September 4. If anyone makes it, Sectionals will take place the week following conference. The team has their final meet before conference at Morton High School on October 5.
