Tyler, The Creator is one of the most commercially successful artists of today with over 50 million listeners on Spotify. Tyler has a total of eight studio albums and in this article, I will be reviewing and rating each one from the first to last.
His first album, “Bastard,” was released on Christmas in 2009. Most of the lyrics are so dark and offensive that it is banned on Spotify and Apple Music. It is a lesser-known album since it isn’t on most streaming platforms. I like the album and would rate it a 7/10. My favorite three tracks are “Seven,” “French,” and “Odd Toddlers.”
His next album is called “Goblin.” This album is what made Tyler get his first Music Television (MTV) Award for Best New Artist in 2011. Just like “Bastard,” it is also known for its dark lyrics. The album has a lot of great tracks with a lot of features including the members of Odd Future. It’s a good album. I would rate the album a 8/10 and my favorite three tracks are “Her,” “Golden,” and “She.”
Tyler would then later release “Wolf” in 2013. This is probably my favorite album from him. It has many great tracks and features like Earl Sweatshirt and Pharell Williams. In this album, Tyler stopped making dark lyrics in his songs because he claimed that he wasn’t being himself. My three favorite tracks on the album are “Rusty,” “Pigs,” and “Tamale.” I would give this album a 9/10.
The next album he released was “Cherry Bomb” in 2015. The album is not well known, and I don’t really like it, but there are a couple good songs. The album would have some really great features like Kanye and Lil Wayne. My three favorite tracks are “Deathcamp,” “Smuckers,” and “2SEATER.” My overall rating of this album is a 5/10.
Tyler would then go on to release “Flower Boy” in 2017. I love this album because it contains his most popular song, “See You Again,” with Kali Uchis. Tyler would also start to have his music on the radio, and this is the point where he hit mainstream. My three favorite tracks are “Pothole,” “Who Dat Boy,” and “Foreword.” My rating for this album is an 8/10.
One of Tyler’s best albums would drop next. In 2019, Tyler released “Igor,” his most popular album. I even got my mom to like the album because of how good it is. The album doesn’t have many features but it’s still great. My three favorite tracks are “GONE, GONE/THANK YOU,” “I THINK,” and “A BOY IS A GUN*.” I give the album a 9/10. I totally recommend listening to this album, it’s great.
Tyler released “Call Me If You Get Lost” next in 2021 with extra tracks for the album “The Estate Sale” releasing in 2023. The album has many features including Domo Genesis and Lil Uzi Vert. The album is very underrated in my opinion and doesn’t get the attention it deserves. My three favorite tracks on the album are “MANIFESTO,” “LUMBERJACK,” and “DOGTOOTH.” I would give the album an 8/10.
Tyler’s latest album “Chromakopia” was just released a couple months ago. Honestly, I don’t really like the album even though a lot of people do. The album was very highly anticipated and made great success for Tyler. The only track that I like is “Darling, I.” I give the album a 3/10, but you should definitely check it out since many do love it.
Overall, Tyler is a great artist, and in my opinion, I think everyone should listen to him. He’s very talented in his work, and he makes really good music.
