APRIL FOOL’S DISCLAIMER:
The story below is intended as humor only and is not intended to be accurate. All RB community participants in the story provided written permission for their names to appear.
Often around this time of year until summer break, the student population fails to commit to school rules when it comes to apparel. So, in recent meetings and thought out discussions the school board has decided that students will be required to wear school uniforms.
The school uniforms RB students will be required to wear won’t be like any other typical school uniforms. Starting in the fall of the 2011-2012 school year. students will need to wear royal blue jumpsuits. The suits will cover the body from the neck down completely. This will follow all school rules and regulations when it comes to the dress code. Also it will be very RB spirited by having the suits royal blue.
The school board is quite confident that everyone involved with the school will agree that school uniforms is the best way to go to address the dress code problem.
The code not being followed is in the official 2010-2011 Student Handbook under Dress Code on page 19 and states that
“Students are expected to dress appropriately for the educational environment at RBHS. Students are required to be clothed with an opaque material from shoulder to mid thigh; 2” straps are required on all clothing… Students wearing clothing which is deemed vulgar, inappropriate, unsafe, or disruptive to the educational process (e.g. advertising/display of alcohol, drugs, sexual, innuendo, weapons) will be required to change into appropriate clothing…”
Arms and legs being shown just seems too vulgar and disruptive to the educational process RB wants to present. Another change being talked about is having the students wear ski masks and gloves in addition to the jumpsuits because hands and faces could just be too distracting from one student to another. The board explained the jumpsuits to not be too over the top at all but just enough coverage for the students. They are simply the only things that seem appropriate.
The uniforms will be sold in the cafeteria during registration for the new year. Students will receive 2 suits. This is for the days that the other uniform not being worn to be cleaned.
The school board agrees that this will take away many unneeded distractions and keep the focus on learning throughout the school day. The decision is final and students should anticipate the positive change.
