High School can be a very stressful time for many students. Standardized tests, grades and homework begins to take a toll on the mental health of many students. Other students, also may have other issues going on in their lives that affects their mental health.

With having social workers  available at the school, students can have a safe place to go to talk about the issues which they are having. It allows for a more welcoming school environment. at Social workers know how to help students who are struggling and are in need of help. They strive to make sure that students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally as well as emotionally.

“A lot of students are really stressed because of school and don’t know how to deal with it” said Senior Sara Meeks.

Many students, without an available social worker, would not get the help that they may need.

“A school psychologist can have an inside look at what goes on in the school so they can assess a student issues, such as social issues or mental or stress related issues, much better than say psychologist from outside of school or a therapist. They can be more effective because of their knowledge if the students environment in a school,” said senior Erik Rodele.

Readily available student psychologist  may not only help with just school related stress, they can also help with students issues at home or with their friends. Physiologists allow for students to feel comfortable to talk to someone about how they are feeling.
