Cristiano Ronaldo ≥ Lionel Messi?

Hardcore soccer fans always debate who’s a better soccer player, Ronaldo or Messi. The two stars have been leading their teams in the Spanish LA Liga, Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid and Messi playing for Barcelona. Both of these teams are rivals too.

Over the past couple of days I’ve interviewed some RB fans about who they think is better and why.

Junior Ruben Chavez said, “Messi is better because he’s better at dribbling and scoring. Messi had 47 goals last season, which outscored Ronaldo.”

Sophomore Eduardo Marentes said, “Ronaldo is much better because he’s got the fastest feet, shot power of course, and he’s way stronger than Messi. He has the right height and perfect body structure for soccer. Obviously he’s better because five defenders mark him and he still gets it done for Real Madrid.”

Arguing for Messi, Sophomore Ivan Jukic said, “Messi is much better. He’s better at controlling the ball. Also, I don’t like self- centered players, and Ronaldo is one of them. Messi isn’t cocky like him.”

Disagreeing to that is Sophomore Kristijan Armic who said, “Ronaldo is better because he is more skilled, faster, bigger, and stronger and can muscle through any defense. His moves are much better and his ability to cross is much better than anyone in the world. His shot is also much better than Messi’s. Overall in every category Ronaldo is better.”

As you see everyone has their own opinion to who is the better player. Some people don’t see any of them being the best player in the world, having their own personal favorite player. The thing that everyone does know is that both Ronaldo and Messi have been dominating the game of soccer for the past years, and the rivalry between both teams is one to remember.

In my opinion, the best player in the world and has been ever since he played for Manchester United is Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes, I do think Lionel Messi is a very good player and helps Barcelona out so much, but Ronaldo has been leading the teams he has played for even better. At Manchester United, one of the best teams in the English Premier League, Ronaldo did everything he could for them and led them to be champions. He is still improving with team chemistry on Real Madrid, but he’s their ace on the team. I have always loved watching Ronaldo play because of his skills and dribbling, he is definitely the best player in the world right now.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not the best player in the world.

Maybe Messi isn’t faster than Ronaldo, but there is so much more to soccer than speed. The difference in speed is very slight, but the difference in acceleration gives Lionel Messi the upper hand. If Messi and Ronaldo were to race for a ball that wasn’t a long distance away, Messi would get to the ball first.

Everyone should realize that Lionel Messi is the best soccer player in the world.
What I agree on, is that Ronaldo did in fact lead Man. U. to victory. But what fans don’t realize is that he also had much help from former teammates Wayne Rooney, Evra, Carrick, Van der Sar and so many more. Ronaldo shouldn’t be given all the credit.
Last time I checked, soccer was a team sport. Cristiano Ronaldo is one player that obviously does not believe in teamwork. If you watch Real Madrid vs Barcelona, it is obvious that Messi stands out more. Also, for the differences of speed, the upper hand goes to Messi because in an 80 by 100 yard soccer field, most passes and plays are close together. Remember, there are 22 players on the field in total and they know how to mark their men. More short passes are taking place than there are long passes. Therefore, Lionel Messi takes the lead because in short distances, Messi WILL get to the ball first.
