After a week off from action, the Bulldogs faced off against conference foe Timothy Christian. The Trojans came into the game with a measly conference record of 2-5.The Trojans however played much better than their record indicated. They hung around with the Bulldogs throughout the game and even held a 3 point lead heading into half time. In the end, however, the Dogs proved to be too much for the pesky Trojans and went on to prevail 72-63.
Senior big man, Miki Ljuboja led the way, as he posted a double-double, netting 26 points, and snagging 14 rebounds. Damonta Henry had a very well rounded game, as he dropped 18 points, dished out 5 assists, and grabbed 5 boards. Junior Jack VanderMerkt also got into the mix, contributing 9 points, including two monstrous dunks, and also secured 9 rebounds. Everyone’s collective effort helped continue the Dogs’ torrent run against conference adversaries, as they improved their record to 8-0, and 17-5 overall.
The Bulldogs finally returned to their home court for the first time in more than two months, as they hosted Illiana Christian in what was a nail-bitter of a ball game. It was a see-saw battle through out, as each team was trading shots throughout. However, in the end the Bulldogs were able to hold on to edge out a tough Illiana team, as they prevailed to a 64-62 victory. Liam Lesniak had a career game as he scored 21 points. Jack VanderMerkt continued his solid play, netting 12 points and also recording 4 rebounds. Miki Ljuboja also got in the action, chipping in 11, and also grabbed a ridiculous, 17 boards.
The Bulldogs are getting hot at the right time and look to continue their excellent play as they gear up for the playoffs.
