The girls swim team wrapped up their season this past weekend at the Lyons Township Sectional meet. Each girl swam their hardest and tried to achieve a lifetime best time in their individual events. The LT Sectional had schools competing in this area.
Though the girls unfortunately didn’t have anyone qualify for state this year, sophomore Sydney Veon broke a varsity record for RB going a 1:10.54 in the 100 Breaststroke. Veon also swam lifetime best times in her other three events.
Freshman Nicole Capone swam in her first big swim meet as a high school swimmer. She competed in the 100 Freestyle and went 57 low, freestyle in the 200 medley relay and had a split of 25.3 seconds, 200 free relay and went a 26 low. In each of her events, she swam lifetime best times.
Though the season didn’t end up how they would’ve liked, each of the girls had a phenomenal season. Every girl improved throughout the season in every aspect, they all improved and swam lifetime best times by the end of the season. All the girls improved on the team goal they set at the beginning of the season which was mental toughness. The girls on the team struggled with mental toughness at the beginning but as the season progressed the girls improved on their mental toughness.
The girls swim team will be looking forward to the next year where they will have a strong team with strong swimmers and more experience.
