Senior golfer Michael Hornung is both a leader on and off the field. His skills on the course are unquestioned and he has imprinted his place as one of RB’s best golfers in recent memory. Hornung has taken on a leadership role this year and has never looked back.
“Even though we didn’t have voting, I declared myself the team captain. I figured I could help out the coach,” said Hornung.
The boy’s had a tough season overall, with many up’s and down’s throughout the course of the year. Hornung led the Bulldogs to victories over Ridgewood and Glenbard South early in the year.
Hornung’s charismatic personality is not only limited to the golf course, as he is a high-energy guy who loves to have fun in school. He is also a member of the Conflict Resolution Team, based on his acceptance into the J. Kyle Braid leadership group here at RB.
“My favorite movie is this flick called Batman. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Just all of them, they’re great,” said Hornung. He is a also a huge fan of any kind of pizza.
Hornung is still determining whether or not he will play golf at the collegiate level next year when he enters college. He has been in contact with a few Division III coaches who have expressed their interest in RB’s top golfer. The future sure is bright for Hornung whether or not he chooses to pursue gold in the future.
